A year has passed since Jak and Daxter rescued Haven City from the Metal Head onslaught, yet the anniversary brings no celebration - the city is still immersed in chaos as warring factions battle for control of the streets:

  • The Freedom League fight for the rights of the people
  • An army of mechanised Krimzon Deathbots fight for domination
  • And the Metal Heads fight for revenge, spurred on by a mysterious new leader

To make matters worse, the city folk have grown to distrust Jak's dark powers and he is banished to the wilderness. Close to death, Jak is saved by Damus, chieftain of a Wastelander city called Spargus. The tough mercenary ruler takes Jak back to his small outpost, where he must repay his life-debt by completing dangerous missions and fighting in the city arena to prove his worth.

But little do the people of Spargus, or indeed Haven City, realise that the future of the entire planet has been preordained and the outlook is bleak - the clock is ticking towards the day of reckoning.

Only by returning to liberate the Haven City and venturing deep into the newly discovered catacombs that lie beneath can Jak finally uncover the secrets of the Precursors, and thus save his people from oblivion...
